David C. Berns


David Berns joined Berns Weiss LLP in the Los Angeles office in December 2016. David works with the firm’s Virtual Currency and Blockchain Technology practice group and the firm’s Consumer Class Actions practice group.  For the past three years, prior to joining Berns Weiss, David acted as an advisor and aided in the formation and development of the firm’s Virtual Currency and Blockchain practice group. As a result of those efforts, David has developed expansive virtual currency and blockchain expertise.

David also serves as the COO and CFO of Berns Inc., a blockchain-focused startup operating a software development studio and a media division called ETHNews.com that focuses on the advancement and adoption of blockchain technology.  He currently owns value in ETH. David’s passion for blockchain technology stems from his belief that this revolutionary technology with make a material change for a brighter future for his kids and all mankind.  

For more than two decades, prior to joining Berns Weiss, David acted as managing attorney for his firm, specializing in business litigation, business transactions, plaintiffs’ injuries, and applicant’s workers’ compensation.  His extensive business knowledge and experience also include international contract negotiations on behalf of his clients.  Through his practice, David has fought for the rights of individuals who were harmed by others or while at work, and has recovered hundreds of millions of dollars for his clients.  

David earned his undergraduate degree from UCLA in 1988 and his J.D. from Whittier College School of Law in 1992.
